Deborah Askew

Deborah is a Senior Research Fellow in the Discipline of General Practice, University of Queensland.  Her current work is focussed on the evaluation of an innovation model of diabetes care that is delivering patient oriented, community based, multidisciplinary, integrated primary and specialist level care to people with Type 2 Diabetes who have been referred to a specialist outpatient clinic.  

She is the Chief Investigator on the Take Heart in General Practice study - a randomised controlled trial in general practice investigating the identification and management of depression in patients with chronic, symptomatic heart disease. 

Her current research interests include the development of a research culture in general practice and primary care, development of patient self-efficacy through chronic disease self-management education and training, and consumer attitudes to health services.
