Dr. Ieva Ozolins; BMedSc(Hons), MBBS, PhD, FRACGP

Ieva has a strong quantitative research history and undertook a PhD in Physiology before completing her medical training. She was awarded her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2000. Throughout her training and practice, Ieva has continued to maintain a research and teaching profile. She is a senior lecturer in the School of Population Health at the University of Queensland, contributes to the development of the Population Health curriculum for medical students, and tutors first year students in Problem-based Learning.

Since commencing an attachment as an Advanced Academic General Practice Registrar in the Department of General Practice at the University of Adelaide in 1999, Ieva has been involved in a number of projects addressing the issues faced by women in medicine. She was an invited member of the RACGP Presidential Task Force for Women in General Practice and, as Registrar Liaison Officer (South Australian and Northern Territory Faculty) she was registrar representative on the General Practice Education and Training Council and the General Practice Partnerships Advisory Council Working Party for Women in Rural General Practice.

In addition to the Doctor’s e-Cohort study, Ieva is currently an investigator with an APHCRI funded systemic review group addressing Advancing Health Literacy through Primary Health Care Systems and clinical advisor to the Queensland Health Strategy for Chronic Disease Evaluation Group.
